If I ever have a boy
I will never tell him he’s special
And thats he’s the best at anything
Because then he will grow
Believing nobody will ever be
As good as him
I will never tell him he needs to be a man,
Because a man is no better than a woman and
My son will not grow up thinking he’s better than anyone
Just because of a different anatomy
And I will never tell him
“Be a brave boy”
Because he will not understand that
Its okay to be afraid
He will know tears are not weak and
Fear doesn’t make you any less
Of a person
I will teach him to not be ashamed
Of the things he likes
And to pursue things with a humility
And keep your head bowed
But keep your heart proud
I will not tell my child
He’s anything less
Than my son
Ill tell him I love him
And even though there will be some who don’t think so,
in my eyes, hes perfect
And that will be enough.
*When I have a son.
My goodness. This is beautiful.
